Stevia extract manufacturer & bulk supplier — 2,300 tonnes a year
We make steviol glycosides; we do not trade them. Own planting base in Jiangsu, in-house extraction and purification, and two enzymatic lines for GSG. Eight commercial grades, from Reb A 95 to Reb M 95, shipped from Shanghai.
This page is for buyers and quality teams: what we can manufacture, what we can document, how fast we can ship, and what we need from you to quote properly.

01Manufacturer or trader — how to tell
Most stevia sold online is resold. That is not automatically a problem, but it changes what you can ask for: lead time, traceability, custom blends, the name on the COA, and who is accountable when a lot deviates. The table below is the checklist we suggest you apply to any supplier, including us.
| Capability | GL Stevia (integrated producer) | Typical trading company |
| Own stevia planting base | 5.3 km² owned plus 6.7 km² contracted | None |
| Leaf extraction and purification | In-house, Xinghua plant, Jiangsu | Outsourced |
| Enzymatic GSG lines | In-house, low-temperature dual-enzyme process | None |
| Lot traceability | Leaf batch → extract lot → finished lot | Partial or none |
| Who issues the COA | The producer, from its own QC laboratory | Resold from a third party |
| Custom blends | From a 5 kg trial batch | Usually not offered |
| Lead-time control | Own production slot | Depends on a third party |
| Site audit | Welcomed at the Xinghua plant | Usually declined |
We are not suggesting that every trader is a bad supplier. We are saying that if the answer to most rows above is “no”, the price you are quoted carries a margin that is not doing any work for you.
02Grades we manufacture
Eight commercial grades across four lines. All are white to off-white crystalline powder, packed to the same specification, and available as custom blends to your ratio from a 5 kg trial batch.
| Grade | Assay | Total glycosides | Sweetness at 5% SE | Production route | Main application | Organic |
| Optimvia® RM95 | ≥95.0% | ≥95.0% | 300× | Enzymatic conversion (EU E 960c) | Clean-label beverages, dairy alternatives | On request |
| Optimvia® RD95 | ≥95.0% | ≥95.0% | 210× | Enzymatic conversion (EU E 960c) | Drinks where a rounder mouthfeel matters | On request |
| Melis300™ | ≥85.0% | ≥95.0% | 150–160× | Enzymatic glucosylation (EU E 960d) | Cost-driven sugar reduction, high-dose solubility | — |
| GLF03® GSG75 | ≥75.0% | ≥95.0% | 80–100× | Enzymatic glucosylation (EU E 960d) | Bakery, sauces, dairy, bulk sweetening | — |
| GLSTEVIA® RA98 | ≥98.0% | ≥98.0% | 300× | Leaf extraction (EU E 960a) | Premium beverages, tabletop sweeteners | On request |
| GLSTEVIA® RA97 | ≥97.0% | ≥97.0% | 280× | Leaf extraction (EU E 960a) | Beverages, dairy, bakery — main volume | USDA NOP |
| GLSTEVIA® RA95 | ≥95.0% | ≥95.0% | 260× | Leaf extraction (EU E 960a) | Sauces, pickles, cost-driven formulas | On request |
| SG95-RA60 | ≥60.0% | ≥95.0% | 230× | Blended TSG (EU E 960a + 960d) | Finish kept below 90 ppm at high dose | On request |
SG95-RA50, non-standard assays and ratios outside this table are produced to order — tell us the target Reb A and total glycoside figure. Sweetness values are measured at 5% sucrose equivalence and are indicative, not a substitute for a sensory trial.
Choosing between them. If taste is the constraint, start at Reb M 95 and work down. If cost is the constraint, start at RA97 or SG95-RA60 and see how far the dose can go before the finish shows. If you need both, the usual answer is a blend rather than a single grade — we quote the ratio, not just the product.
03Capacity, plant and planting base
Capacity is the first thing to check, because it decides whether a supplier can hold a schedule through a harvest year. Our 2,300 tonnes are produced at one site from leaf we largely grow ourselves.
| Manufacturing base | No.26 Kaifu Road, Xinghua Economic Development Zone, Jiangsu Province, China |
| Marketing centre | Room A711, No.358 Yinxi Road, Songjiang District, Shanghai, China |
| Annual capacity | 2,300 tonnes of steviol glycosides |
| In operation since | 2005; first 400 t line commissioned in 2007 |
| Planting | 5.3 km² owned base plus 6.7 km² under contract |
| Proprietary input | GL#9 and GL#10 cultivars — 1.4 m average height, about 2,500 leaves per plant, roughly 50% above conventional varieties |
| Own equipment | GX5 automatic leaf-stripping and packing line |
| Customers served | More than 3,000 food and beverage companies worldwide |
| Export markets | 20+ countries and regions |
GL Stevia is the trading name of Xinghua GL Stevia Co., Ltd., an independent, privately held Chinese manufacturer. It is not a subsidiary, affiliate or brand of any other stevia producer. If you are checking us against a supplier list compiled by a market-research firm, check the legal name rather than the brand — the two are often filed separately.
04Three production routes
This is the first technical question in most enquiries, and the answer changes the regulatory basis, the taste and the price. We would rather state our position than let you guess.
| Route | Regulatory basis | What it actually means | Our grades |
| Leaf extraction | EU E 960a | Glycosides extracted from dried stevia leaf, then purified and crystallised | RA98, RA97, RA95 |
| Enzymatic conversion | EU E 960c | Glycosides from leaf converted enzymatically into Reb M or Reb D | Optimvia® RM95, RD95 |
| Enzymatic glucosylation | EU E 960d | Glucose units transferred enzymatically onto the steviol backbone, producing GSG | Melis300™, GLF03® GSG75 |
Our Reb M is enzymatically converted from leaf-derived glycosides, not fermented. If your specification, your customer or your market requires a fermented or a leaf-only claim, say so at enquiry stage — it is better to find out now than at the label review.
05Supply terms and lead time
Standard grades held in stock ship in 3–7 days from order confirmation. Large orders and custom blends or non-standard assays take 7–14 days, because they need a dedicated production slot and a blend approval step.
| Minimum order | 20 kg per grade; mixed pallets combining several grades are accepted |
| Trial quantity | 5 kg for custom blends or non-standard assays |
| Free sample | 50 g per grade, dispatched within 3 working days with the COA of the sampled lot |
| Lead time — stock grades | 3–7 days from order confirmation |
| Lead time — large or custom orders | 7–14 days, confirmed at order |
| Packing | 20 kg net, food-grade PE inner bag in a fibre drum; 10 kg and 25 kg on request |
| Price basis | FOB Shanghai or CIF to your port; quotations valid for 30 days |
Payment, packing and shelf-life detail is also set out in the ordering section of our FAQ. For orders that must catch a specific vessel, give us the vessel date at enquiry stage and we will confirm whether the schedule is achievable before you place the order.
06Vendor qualification and audit support
Approving a new supplier usually takes longer than quoting one. These are the steps we can take on our side to shorten yours.
Supplier questionnaire
We complete your questionnaire rather than sending a brochure: quality system, capacity and allocation, traceability, allergen and foreign-body control, pest control, social responsibility and business continuity. Typical turnaround is five working days.
Site audit
Customer audits are hosted at the Xinghua plant, normally booked two weeks ahead. We can arrange the production walk-through, the QC laboratory, the warehouse and the document review in one visit, and we will sign your audit report on site.
Sample agreement and NDA
Samples ship with the COA of the sampled lot. We sign NDAs for formulation information and can work under a sample evaluation agreement when your procedure requires one before a trial.
Registration documents
Specification, process flow chart, stability statement, allergen and GMO declarations, and certificates for the destination market's registration file. Tell us the market and we will tell you which documents it needs.
07What to send us for a quotation
Ten items. If you have all of them, the first reply is usually the useful one.
- Product category — beverage, dairy, bakery, tabletop, sauce
- Current sugar or sweetener load in the formula
- Target sugar reduction, in per cent
- Dose per serving
- Target sweetness equivalence
- Other sweeteners already in the formula
- Labelling requirements — clean label, organic, non-GMO
- Country of sale
- Trial quantity
- Annual volume
08Supplier questions
How do I verify that you are a manufacturer rather than a trading company?
Ask for three things: the production address, the holder of the export licence, and a batch COA. Ours are No.26 Kaifu Road, Xinghua, Jiangsu; Xinghua GL Stevia Co., Ltd.; and a COA issued in our own QC laboratory rather than by a third party. You are also welcome to audit the plant before the first order.
Can you complete our supplier questionnaire and host a site audit?
Yes. We complete supplier questionnaires covering quality, capacity, traceability, allergen control and social responsibility, and we host customer audits at the Xinghua plant, normally booked two weeks in advance. Documents needed for your registration file, including the specification, process flow chart and certificates, are issued with the quotation.
What is the smallest trial order before a commercial PO?
A 50 g sample per grade is free of charge. The first paid order can be 5 kg for a custom blend or 20 kg for a standard grade, and mixed pallets combining several grades are accepted, so a trial does not commit you to a full drum of a single product.
How do you keep lot-to-lot consistency across shipments?
Leaf comes from our own 5.3 square kilometre base and contracted fields under one cultivar programme, and every lot is blended to a fixed specification before packing. Each drum carries a lot number traceable back to the leaf batch, and the COA for that lot travels with the shipment.
Do you supply under our own brand or private label?
Yes. We pack to your artwork and specification under private label, with your brand, your item codes and your label text, subject to the labelling rules of the destination market. Minimum quantity, artwork approval and label review are confirmed at quotation.
What happens if a lot fails our incoming QC?
Send us the parameter and the result. We re-test the retained sample from the same lot; if the deviation is confirmed, the lot is replaced or returned. Third-party testing by SGS, Eurofins or an equivalent laboratory is accepted when the two laboratories disagree.
